Wei Chen is a general partner at Halcyon Ventures, an early-stage fund in Hong Kong that backs developer tools and business software across Asia and Europe. Before investing he spent twenty years building products, the last eight as co-founder of an inventory platform for electronics distributors, which he steered through two downturns before selling it.

He sits on seven boards and is known among founders for asking about retention curves before revenue. Wei lives on Lamma Island, takes the ferry to the office, and has practised calligraphy every morning for thirty years.
