Amara Boateng founded Fernway, the booking and records platform used by six thousand independent health clinics across the United States and Canada. She started it after a decade as a practice manager, watching clinicians lose an hour a day to software built for hospital chains, and has grown it to three hundred people without a single round of layoffs.

Amara writes openly about running a company, including the board meetings that went badly, and her monthly letter to staff is read well beyond Fernway. She lives in Brooklyn, coaches her daughter's under-twelves football team, and bakes bread on Sunday mornings.
